The Design + Inspiration
I dyed some yarn for my most recent Sewrella Yarn hand dyed collection in the exquisite hues Cruise and Lido Deck, and it was simply lying on my shelf, screaming to be utilized for something as beautiful as it is. I had a lot of fun dying these colors, and I thought a two-sided, easy stitch blanket would be ideal for them. The blanket, knit on our Classic Bulky base yarn, is mushy and luscious, with a beautiful drape.
This cruise crochet blanket is the definition of opulence. It’s unquestionably a heritage piece! I’ll just say it: if there’s one blanket you should splurge on and take the time to make, it’s this one.
Color Pooling Made Simple
In the photographs for this crochet blanket design, you’ll note that the multicolored yarn pools in a way that resembles waves or incredibly gentle, flowing striping. That is not due to any clever counting or method; it is simply the way our yarn works up when crocheted.
We apply one color on the right side of the blanket and another color on the wrong side to create a two-toned appearance, which allows the color to pool in the wavy style you see here. Any of our pour dyed hand dyed yarn hues might be used to get a similar look.

Yarn Sewrella
I began hand dyeing my own yarn over two years ago, and it has now grown into a thriving company that I adore! We present monthly collections, each with a distinct theme and include variegated and solid colored yarns, speckled yarns, and a variety of base yarns, including the bulky yarn seen here.
We also utilize teas and home-made wool wash that are unique to each collection. To taste, special edition teas such as key lime margarita in the summer and pumpkin chai in the fall, while scented wool wash links a sense of smell to the collection such as coconut grove or warm amber staycation.

So many different sizes in one blanket
Although I adore this crochet blanket in infant size, I’ve developed this pattern to work for blankets of any size!
Within the design, you’ll find a table showing the blanket sizes included in the pattern, as well as their dimensions and yardage requirements (assuming you’re using the yarn I used or a similar worsted weight yarn).
